Rattle and Hum is a hybrid album by the Irish rock band U2. It is their sixth album and released on October 10, 1988. It serves as both a soundtrack album and a companion to the rockumentary film of the same name, which documents the band's experiences during The Joshua Tree Tour. The album features a mix of live recordings, studio tracks, and covers, showcasing U2's exploration of American roots music such as blues, gospel, and folk.
"Rattle and Hum" had notable on Billboard, as it peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, marking U2's sixth consecutive number one album in the United States at that time. It spawned several successful singles, including "Desire," "Angel of Harlem," and a live version of "All I Want Is You."
