Rock & Roll Strategy is the eighth studio album by 38 Special, released in 1988 on A&M Records. Produced by Rodney Mills, the album marked a shift toward a more polished, radio-friendly rock sound, moving further from the band's earlier Southern rock roots while retaining Donnie Van Zant's lead vocals alongside keyboardist Max Carl.
The album includes "Second Chance," which became 38 Special's highest-charting single, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, along with "Comin' Down Tonight" and "Little Sheba." Mastered by Bob Ludwig, the record features guitar work from Jeff Carlisi and Danny Chauncey, though its sales fell short of the band's earlier commercial peak.
