Special Forces is the sixth studio album by 38 Special, released in 1982 on A&M Records and produced by Rodney Mills with the band's Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi serving as co-producers. The album became the band's commercial breakthrough, driven by a more radio-friendly rock sound alongside their established Southern rock foundation.
The album includes "Caught Up in You," which became 38 Special's first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, along with "Back Door Stranger" and "Chain Lightnin'." Mastered by Bob Ludwig, the record was recorded at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia, and went on to be certified platinum.
