Come As You Are is the second solo album by Peter Wolf, the former lead singer of the J. Geils Band. It was released on March 30, 1987, by EMI America Records. The album showcased Wolf's diverse musical style, blending elements of rock, pop, and soul.
Come As You Are was a commercial success, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. The album spawned the hit single "Come As You Are," which peaked at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another notable track, "Can't Get Started," also received significant airplay.
The music video for "Come As You Are" is based on Bobby Van's memorable "street dance" from "Small Town Girl (1953)." In the video, Peter Wolf hops around a 1950s small town similar to the one in the movie, and he passes a poster for Small Town Girl as a direct reference to the inspiration for the video.
