Enya's album Watermark, released on September 19, 1988, marked her second studio album. This commercially successful album propelled Enya to global recognition, largely due to the international hit single "Orinoco Flow," also known as "Sail Away," which topped the UK Singles Chart and the European Hot 100 Singles. Other singles from the album include "Evening Falls..." and "Storms in Africa."
Watermark achieved significant sales, estimated at over 13 million copies worldwide. It reached number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was certified quadruple platinum by both the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), indicating shipments of 1.2 million and 4 million copies in the UK and US, respectively. On the Billboard New Age Albums chart, Watermark reached number two and remained on the chart for 286 weeks.
