Lethal Weapon is a 1987 American buddy cop action film directed by Richard Donner and starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as two police detectives with very different personalities who are forced to work together to solve a case.
Gibson plays Martin Riggs, a volatile and suicidal cop who is still reeling from the recent death of his wife. Glover plays Roger Murtaugh, a more level-headed and family-oriented officer who is nearing retirement age.
The two are partnered together to investigate a drug smuggling operation, and soon find themselves in the middle of a dangerous and violent criminal underworld. Along the way, they uncover a plot involving corrupt police officers and must fight to bring the criminals to justice.
"Lethal Weapon" is known for its explosive action sequences, witty banter between the two leads, and a memorable soundtrack featuring the song "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover helped make the film a box office success and launched a popular film franchise that spawned three sequels.
