Superman II is a 1980 superhero film directed by Richard Lester and starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman, Terence Stamp, and Ned Beatty. It is the sequel to the 1978 film "Superman".
The movie begins with the trial and imprisonment of the three Kryptonian criminals - General Zod (Stamp) and his henchmen Ursa (Sarah Douglas) and Non (Jack O'Halloran) - by Jor-El before the destruction of Krypton. Years later, they escape from the Phantom Zone and come to Earth, where they discover they have powers similar to Superman's (Reeve).
Meanwhile, Clark Kent (Reeve) is struggling with his dual identity as Superman and his feelings for Lois Lane (Kidder). When Superman decides to reveal his secret to Lois and give up his powers to be with her, he inadvertently opens the door for Zod and his minions to take over the world. In a dramatic battle, Superman must confront the Kryptonian villains and ultimately make a sacrifice to save the planet.
