Heavy Horses, the eleventh studio album by British progressive rock band Jethro Tull, was released on April 10, 1978. It is considered the second album in a trilogy of folk-rock albums by the band, following Songs from the Wood (1977) and preceding Stormwatch (1979).
The album features a blend of folk and hard rock influences, with lyrics that focus on a more realist perspective of country life compared to the British folklore themes explored in Songs from the Wood. Despite critical acclaim, Heavy Horses reached a peak of #19 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It is certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 units.
