Heart – Bad Animals

Bad Animals is the ninth studio album by the American rock band Heart, and was released in May 1987 by Capitol Records. Building on the mainstream hard rock style established in the band's 1985 self-titled release, the album enjoyed similar success. It peaked at an impressive number two on the US Billboard 200 in August 1987 and reached number seven on the UK Charts. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it triple platinum on June 4, 1992. Internationally, "Bad Animals" achieved top-five chart positions in Canada, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The album features a diverse range of tracks, including cover songs such as "Alone," originally recorded by the duo i-Ten on their 1983 album "Taking a Cold Look," and "Wait for an Answer," initially recorded by Dalbello on her 1984 album "Whomanfoursays."  

"Bad Animals" spawned several hit singles, with "Alone" reaching the coveted US number-one spot, "Who Will You Run To" securing the seventh position, "There's the Girl" reaching number 12, and "I Want You So Bad" claiming the 49th spot on the charts. The album's success extended to the 30th Annual Grammy Awards in 1988, where it received a nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The intriguing title of the album, "Bad Animals," stems from an incident the band encountered at a hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ann Wilson's dog accompanied her, and hotel security informed the band of a North Carolina law making it a crime to bring an animal into a hotel room. The band's resourceful tour manager resolved the issue by taking the dog outside for three hours, giving rise to the album's distinctive name.
