Hairspray is a musical comedy film released in 2007, directed by Adam Shankman and based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn was based on the 1988 film of the same name by John Waters. The film features an ensemble cast including John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron, Nikki Blonsky, and Queen Latifah.

The movie is set in Baltimore in 1962 and tells the story of Tracy Turnblad (played by Nikki Blonsky), a plus-sized teenager with big hair and an even bigger heart, who dreams of dancing on "The Corny Collins Show," a popular local TV dance program. Despite facing discrimination for her size and unconventional looks, Tracy's determination and talent catch the attention of the show's host, Corny Collins (played by James Marsden), as well as the show's producer, Velma Von Tussle (played by Michelle Pfeiffer).

Tracy's journey to fame is not without obstacles, as she faces opposition from Velma and her scheming daughter Amber (played by Brittany Snow), who do everything they can to keep Tracy off the show. Along the way, Tracy befriends a group of African American students who also face discrimination and segregation, including Seaweed J. Stubbs (played by Elijah Kelley) and his sister Little Inez (played by Taylor Parks). Together, they work towards integrating "The Corny Collins Show" and promoting racial equality.

The movie is filled with lively musical numbers, catchy songs, and colorful 1960s-inspired costumes and sets. The performances are energetic and engaging, with standout performances from John Travolta as Tracy's mother Edna, Christopher Walken as her father Wilbur, and Queen Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle, a DJ and civil rights activist.
