The Heart of Chicago 1967-1997 is the fourth greatest hits album by Chicago, released April 22, 1997 on Reprise Records to mark the band's 30th anniversary. The compilation bridges the band's two commercial eras, pairing hits from their Terry Kath-era catalog with the Peter Cetera-led ballads that defined their 1980s resurgence.
The collection includes "You're the Inspiration," "Hard Habit to Break," and "Saturday in the Park," alongside the seven-minute "Beginnings" from their 1969 debut and the extended "Hard to Say I'm Sorry / Get Away." Tracks were produced across the band's career by James William Guercio, David Foster, Ron Nevison, Lenny Kravitz, and James Newton Howard.
