The Men Who Stare at Goats is a 2009 satirical war comedy film directed by Grant Heslov. The movie is loosely based on Jon Ronson's 2004 non-fiction book of the same name. The film features a star-studded cast, including George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Spacey.

The story is presented as a mixture of fiction and elements inspired by real events. The film follows the adventures of Bob Wilton (played by Ewan McGregor), a journalist who becomes entangled in the bizarre world of the U.S. military's secret paranormal unit. Wilton meets Lyn Cassady (played by George Clooney), a former member of the unit, who claims to have psychic abilities and to have been trained in a program designed to explore the potential of paranormal phenomena for military purposes.

The title of the movie comes from the claim that members of the unit, including Cassady, could allegedly kill goats by staring at them, a supposed psychic ability known as "remote viewing."

As Wilton and Cassady embark on a journey through Iraq, the film weaves between the present-day narrative and flashbacks that provide insight into the creation and activities of the top-secret psychic unit known as the New Earth Army, led by the eccentric Bill Django (played by Jeff Bridges). The New Earth Army explores unconventional and alternative approaches to warfare, incorporating ideas from New Age philosophies and psychic phenomena.
