The Count of Monte Cristo is a 2002 adventure film directed by Kevin Reynolds, adapted from Alexandre Dumas' classic novel by screenwriter Jay Wolpert. The film follows Edmond Dantes, played by Jim Caviezel, a young sailor falsely imprisoned for treason by his jealous friend Fernand, played by Guy Pearce, who returns years later using a hidden treasure to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.
The film also stars Richard Harris, James Frain, Dagmara Dominczyk, Luis Guzman, and Henry Cavill in one of his earliest roles. This widescreen DVD includes audio commentary from director Kevin Reynolds, deleted scenes, and behind-the-scenes featurettes covering the film's swordfight choreography and Malta filming locations. Runtime is 131 minutes.
