Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits is the first hits compilation by the folk rock duo, released by Columbia Records on June 14, 1972, two years after Simon & Garfunkel disbanded. Produced by Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, and Roy Halee, the album draws on recordings made between March 1964 and November 1969 and was ranked number 293 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time in 2003.
The fourteen-track set combines ten studio recordings, including nine singles released between 1965 and 1972 and the album track Bookends, with four previously unreleased live recordings drawn from the duo's final concert together at Carnegie Hall in 1970, among them The 59th Street Bridge Song and Homeward Bound. It gathers the duo's most enduring songs, including Mrs. Robinson, The Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and The Boxer.
