Nim's Island

Nim's Island is a family adventure film released in 2008. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Wendy Orr and Kerry Millard. It stars Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster, and Gerard Butler in the lead roles. 

The story revolves around Nim Rusoe (played by Abigail Breslin), a young girl who lives on a remote and idyllic island in the South Pacific with her scientist father, Jack Rusoe (played by Gerard Butler). Nim's days are filled with adventure, as she explores the island's natural beauty and wildlife, and she communicates with the outside world through email with her favorite author, Alexandra Rover.

However, when her father goes missing at sea during a storm, Nim must face her fears and rely on her ingenuity to survive alone on the island. In her father's absence, Nim seeks help from Alexandra Rover (played by Jodie Foster), who she believes to be a brave and adventurous explorer. Unbeknownst to Nim, Alexandra is actually an agoraphobic writer with a vivid imagination.

As Nim and Alexandra connect through their email correspondence, they form an unlikely bond and work together to rescue Jack and save the island from impending danger.
