Released on June 13, 1975, Red Octopus is the second studio album by American rock band Jefferson Starship. The album features the hit single "Miracles," which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the highest-charting single for any permutation of the band until Starship's "We Built This City" a decade later.
The album's cover art features a painting of a red octopus by artist Craig Nelson, which has become one of the most iconic images associated with Jefferson Starship.
Red Octopus itself reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 for four non-consecutive weeks. Certified double platinum by the RIAA in 1995, it is the best-selling album by any incarnation of Jefferson Airplane and its spin-off groups.
