Clint Black's self-titled debut album, "Killin' Time," was released on May 2, 1989, by RCA Nashville. It established him as a major force in country music. The album is considered a neotraditional country and Texas country record, featuring a fresh take on classic country sounds with a touch of Western swing.

"Killin' Time" was a massive commercial success. The album was buoyed by the chart-topping success of its first four singles, including "A Better Man," "Killin' Time" (the title track), "Nobody's Home," and "Walkin' Away." All except "Nothing's News" reached Number One on the Billboard charts, with "A Better Man" and "Nobody's Home" becoming the Billboard year-end number one songs for 1989 and 1990 respectively. "Killin' Time" is currently certified triple platinum by the RIAA, signifying sales of over three million copies in the United States.
