Glass Houses is the seventh studio album released by the American singer-songwriter in 1980. It marked a departure from Joel's previous piano-driven sound and incorporated more rock-oriented elements, influenced by new wave and punk music that was popular at the time.

The album features a blend of energetic rock songs and introspective ballads, showcasing Joel's versatile songwriting abilities. Some notable tracks from "Glass Houses" include the hit singles "You May Be Right," "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me," and "Don't Ask Me Why," which all achieved significant chart success.

"Glass Houses" was a massive commercial success. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart, becoming Joel's first album to reach the number one position. It remained at the top spot for six consecutive weeks and spent a total of 82 weeks on the chart.

The album's lead single, "You May Be Right," peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The follow-up single, "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me," became Joel's first number one hit on the Hot 100, staying at the top for two weeks. The third single, "Don't Ask Me Why," also achieved considerable success, reaching number 19 on the Hot 100.
