Released on April 6, 1992, Diva is the debut solo studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter Annie Lennox, following the hiatus of Eurythmics. Produced by Stephen Lipson, the album is a masterful blend of blue-eyed soul, sophisticated pop, and electronic textures. The production was a major critical and commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart and earning a quadruple-platinum certification. The album features several iconic singles, including the soul-baring ballad Why and the upbeat, baroque-pop influenced Walking on Broken Glass, which reached the top ten in both the UK and the US. Lennox co-wrote every track on the album, with the exception of the hidden bonus track Keep Young and Beautiful, showcasing her prowess as both a songwriter and one of the most distinctive vocalists of her generation. Recorded primarily at Lennox’s home studio and Mayfair Studios in London, the project earned Lennox the Brit Award for British Album of the Year and several Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year. Its legacy as a definitive 1990s pop masterpiece remains intact, characterized by its polished production and Lennox's powerful, emotionally resonant performances.
