Heart of Midnight: Original Soundtrack Recording is the film score composed and produced by Greek keyboardist Yanni for director Matthew Chapman's 1988 psychological thriller Heart of Midnight, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh. The score was originally recorded in 1989 and released on CD in 1992 by Silva Screen Records America.
The fifteen-track instrumental score follows the film's narrative through a series of connected cues built around a recurring central motif, Carol's Theme, which recurs throughout the album in variations including a soft interlude, a sorrowful reprise, and a closing finale. The music leans into dark, atmospheric synthesizer textures that depart from the more melodic new age style of Yanni's studio albums of the same era, reflecting the tension and psychological unease of the film's plot.
