Released on March 25, 1997, in Canada and July 8, 1997, in the United States, this eponymous major-label debut established the Saskatoon-based trio as a force in Canadian blues-rock. Produced by Joel Van Dyke and the band themselves at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver, the album features re-recorded versions of tracks from their 1996 independent debut, The Nazarene, alongside the new soulful standard "This Mourning". Led by the virtuoso guitar work and gritty vocals of Shaun Verreault, the record achieved Gold certification in Canada by March 1998, propelled by the success of radio staples like "Midnight Rain," "My Old Self," and "The Game". The album’s fusion of pop sensibilities with raw, improvisational blues earned the band a Juno Award nomination for Best New Group in 1998 and remains a cornerstone of nineties Canadian alternative rock.
