Saturday Night Fever (The Original Movie Sound Track) is the soundtrack to the 1977 Robert Stigwood production starring John Travolta, originally released as a double LP by RSO Records and reissued here as a remastered single-disc CD by Polydor in 1995. The reissue was remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio from the original master tapes and supervised by Bill Oakes, who oversaw the original album's compilation.
The seventeen-track soundtrack is anchored by the Bee Gees, who contribute Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, Jive Talkin', You Should Be Dancing, and More Than a Woman. It also includes Yvonne Elliman's If I Can't Have You, Walter Murphy's disco arrangement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, and The Trammps' extended Disco Inferno, alongside contributions from Tavares, Kool and the Gang, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, David Shire, Ralph MacDonald, and M.F.S.B. The album became one of the best-selling soundtracks in music history and helped drive disco to mainstream popularity in the late 1970s.
