The critically acclaimed, piano-driven alternative rock record peaked at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and reached its highest position on the US Billboard 200 at number 12. Hit songs from the album include "Cornflake Girl," "God," "Pretty Good Year," and "Past the Mission." Commercially, the album was a major success, achieving double Platinum certification from the RIAA in the US for sales exceeding two million copies. It also earned Platinum certification from the BPI in the UK for sales over 300,000 copies.
