    The Wild Geese is a British war film released in 1978, directed by Andrew V. McLaglen and based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Carney. The movie is a gritty and action-packed adventure that revolves around a group of mercenaries hired to rescue a kidnapped African leader.

    The plot centers on a British businessman named Sir Edward Matherson, played by Stewart Granger, who hires a group of skilled mercenaries led by Colonel Allen Faulkner, portrayed by Richard Burton. The mercenaries, known as "The Wild Geese," are tasked with rescuing the imprisoned African president Julius Limbani, played by Winston Ntshona, from a heavily guarded prison in a fictional African country.
