The Waitresses' debut album, "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful?", was released on January 11, 1982, and is a key record in the new wave genre. The album is the first studio album in the band's discography. It is known for its distinctive blend of post-punk and funk-influenced sounds, featuring the half-sung, half-spoken vocal delivery of lead singer Patty Donahue. The album's notable single and hit song is "I Know What Boys Like," which peaked at number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album itself reached number 41 on the Billboard 200 chart.
