The Replacement Killers is a stylish action-thriller that marked the Hollywood debut of Hong Kong cinema superstar Chow Yun-Fat. Released on February 6, 1998, the film follows professional assassin John Lee (Chow Yun-Fat) who goes on the run after refusing to complete a final hit for a ruthless crime boss, an assignment that would have involved killing a child. As they evade the crime boss's "replacement killers," Lee and Coburn form an unlikely alliance. The film also features Michael Rooker and Kenneth Tsang. It was directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Bernie Brillstein and Brad Grey, with John Woo serving as an executive producer and action choreographer. The Replacement Killers earned a domestic box office total of approximately $39.5 million against a budget of $30 million.
