The Office is an American mockumentary television series that follows the everyday lives of the employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of a fictional paper company called Dunder Mifflin. Season 5 of the show originally aired from September 25, 2008 to May 14, 2009, and featured 28 episodes.

Other notable storylines in Season 5 include the arrival of a new company vice president named Charles Miner (played by Idris Elba), who clashes with Michael over management styles, and the opening of a new Michael Scott Paper Company after Michael and Pam are fired from Dunder Mifflin.
