The Night Before is a 2015 American Christmas comedy film directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Levine, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, and Anthony Mackie as three childhood friends who annually reunite on Christmas Eve in search of the best party in New York City. Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell, Mindy Kaling, and Michael Shannon also star.
The film follows the trio as they attempt to find the legendary "Nutcracker Ball" party, their ultimate Christmas Eve goal. As their lives change and responsibilities increase, they question the continuation of their tradition.
Produced by Good Universe and Point Grey Pictures, Columbia Pictures released the film on November 20, 2015. While it received mixed reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing over $70 million worldwide against a $37 million budget.
