Directed by Michael Chaves in his feature directorial debut and produced by James Wan, this 2019 supernatural horror film is based on the haunting Latin American folklore of the "Weeping Woman." Set in 1973 Los Angeles, the narrative follows Anna Tate-Garcia (Linda Cardellini), a social worker and widowed single mother who inadvertently draws a malevolent spirit into her own home after investigating a truancy case involving a troubled mother. The film features a strong supporting cast, including Raymond Cruz as a former priest-turned-curandero and Patricia Velásquez. As the sixth installment in The Conjuring Universe, the production delivers a series of visceral jump scares and atmospheric suspense, centered on the legend of a specter caught between Heaven and Hell who preys on children to replace her own. The story culminates in a desperate battle of faith and mysticism as Anna fights to protect her children from La Llorona's lethal wrath.
