Mondo Bongo, released in January 1981, is the fourth studio album by the Irish new wave band The Boomtown Rats. It peaked at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart and number 116 on the US Billboard 200. This album marked a turning point for the band as it was the last album recorded with guitarist Gerry Cott, who left shortly after its release. The album features the hit singles "Banana Republic," which reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart in November 1980, and "The Elephants Graveyard (Guilty)," which peaked at number 26 in January 1981.
