The Beatles Anthology 1, released on November 20, 1995, is the first compilation album in The Beatles Anthology series. It features rarities, outtakes, and live performances from the band's early years, 1958-1964. This includes songs featuring original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe and drummer Pete Best. The album also includes "Free as a Bird," the first new Beatles song in 25 years at the time.
The album was a large success throughout the world. It was the first Beatles album to enter the US Billboard 200 album chart at number one. Anthology 1 is certified 8X Platinum with sales of 8,000,000 units.
