    Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys is a greatest hits compilation released by Capitol Records on June 10, 2003. Drawing on recordings made between 1962 and 1988, the thirty-track single-disc set was, at the time of release, the most comprehensive Beach Boys compilation ever assembled, including nearly every US Top 40 hit of the band's career.

    The collection spans the group's early surf and car songs, including Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, and Little Deuce Coupe, through the more experimental Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile era represented by God Only Knows, Wouldn't It Be Nice, and Good Vibrations, and into the band's later output with Kokomo and Getcha Back. Several tracks feature newly created stereo mixes made specifically for this release, alongside original mono single versions of hits such as I Get Around and Barbara Ann.
