Pieces of Eight is the eighth studio album by the American rock band Styx, released on September 1, 1978. The album showcases Styx's signature blend of progressive rock and pop sensibilities, featuring a mix of both radio-friendly tracks and more intricate compositions.
Billboard Performance: "Pieces of Eight" was a commercial success on the Billboard charts. It reached the number 6 position on the Billboard 200 chart and spent a total of 46 weeks on the chart. The album's lead single, "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)," became a hit, further solidifying Styx's presence in the rock music scene.
The album's cover was done by Hipgnosis. Dennis DeYoung stated in the 1991 interview with Redbeard on the In the Studio with Redbeard episode that he initially hated the cover but grew to like it as he got older.
