Speed Racer: The Next Generation is a 2008 animated television series that serves as a sequel to the original "Speed Racer" series. In this movie, the son of the original Speed Racer, named Speed Racer Jr., takes on the mantle of his father and races against a new generation of drivers. Along with his friends Conor and Lucy, Speed Racer Jr. must battle against dangerous competitors and evil corporations to protect his family's racing legacy.
In this episode "- Race to the Future", which originally aired on television in 2011, Pop installs the time orb into Speed's Mach 5, which takes them 50 years into the future. In the future, they discover that robots have replaced human drivers in racing, and they must find a way to get back to their own time. Speed disguises himself as a robot to enter a race and win the prize money they need to repair the time orb and return to their own time.
