Deadly Sting is a definitive compilation album by the iconic German hard rock band Scorpions, showcasing their greatest hits and unreleased gems from their time with the Mercury label. Originally released in 1995 as a single disc with 15 to 18 tracks (varying by country), the album captures the band's powerful sound and memorable songs spanning from 1978 to 1988.
In response to popular demand, an expanded double-disc version was unleashed in 1997 for the US market, offering a total of 33 tracks that span from 1978 to 1995. This deluxe edition includes several previously unreleased studio tracks, treating fans to hidden treasures from the band's prolific career.
Controversy surrounded the original cover art, featuring a provocative depiction of a naked woman being stung by a column of scorpions. In response to concerns, an alternative version with the woman airbrushed out was introduced, becoming the cover for the double-disc release titled "The Mercury Years."
