Rio 2 is a 2014 animated musical comedy directed by Carlos Saldanha, the sequel to 2011's Rio. Blu, Jewel, and their three chicks leave the city of Rio de Janeiro for the Amazon rainforest, where Jewel's family and old flock still live, forcing the domesticated Blu to adjust to life in the wild while facing a returning threat from the vengeful cockatoo Nigel.
The film features the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, will.i.am, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, and Andy Garcia, along with new cast members Bruno Mars, Rita Moreno, and Kristin Chenoweth. Produced by 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios, the film grossed nearly $500 million worldwide.
