Anthology is a 1988 compilation of Ray Charles' ABC-Paramount era recordings, released by Rhino Records and among the label's earliest compact disc releases. Charles, who retained the master rights to his ABC-Paramount catalog, supervised a fresh remix of the twenty songs specifically for this release alongside mastering engineer Steve Hoffman, while Rhino co-founder Richard Foos selected and sequenced the tracklist.
Though drawn entirely from Charles' 1960s and 1970s ABC-Paramount recordings, the collection also represents his earlier Atlantic Records period through live recordings of What'd I Say, I Gotta Woman, and Hallelujah I Love Her So, all captured at a 1965 concert. The set spans genres from the country-inflected I Can't Stop Loving You and Crying Time to his reworking of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby, alongside signature hits Georgia on My Mind, Hit the Road Jack, and Unchain My Heart.
