Released on May 4, 1987, by Warner Bros. Records, Always & Forever is the multi-platinum second studio album that solidified Randy Travis as the face of the "New Traditionalist" movement. Following the massive success of his debut, this record spent an incredible 43 weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and earned Travis the CMA Award for Album of the Year. Produced by Kyle Lehning, the 10-track collection features four number-one singles, including the career-defining "Forever and Ever, Amen" and the self-penned classic "I Told You So." The album’s success was instrumental in shifting country music back toward its traditional roots, blending Travis’s smooth, deep baritone with authentic honky-tonk arrangements. By late 1988, it became his first album to be certified double-platinum, eventually reaching five-times platinum status and remaining one of the most influential country albums of the 1980s.
