Queen's twelfth studio album, A Kind of Magic, released on June 2, 1986, was their first since their celebrated performance at Live Aid in 1985. It achieved immediate success in the UK, reaching number one and selling 100,000 copies in its first week. The album remained on the UK charts for 63 weeks, selling a total of 600,000 copies in the UK alone.
A Kind of Magic served as the soundtrack to the fantasy film Highlander. It spawned several hit singles, including the title track, "One Vision," "Friends Will Be Friends," and the power ballad "Who Wants to Live Forever." The album's closing track, "Princes of the Universe," is the iconic theme song for the film Highlander.
