One Fair Summer Evening is Nanci Griffith's seventh album and her first recorded live, released by MCA Records in November 1988. Produced by Griffith and Tony Brown, the album was recorded on August 19 and 20, 1988 at Anderson Fair, a Houston, Texas club long known as an intimate home for folk artists where Griffith honed her craft early in her career.

The twelve-track set draws largely on live versions of songs from Griffith's earlier albums, alongside two songs new to this release, Deadwood, South Dakota and I Would Bring You Ireland. It includes her performances of Roseville Fair, Trouble in the Fields, Love at the Five and Dime, and From a Distance, the Julie Gold song Griffith performed here two years before Bette Midler's hit version. The album reached number 43 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.
