Milli Vanilli's Girl You Know It's True, released on March 7, 1989, was a re-packaged version of their debut album All or Nothing specifically tailored for the North American market. Despite the controversy that later emerged, the album became a massive commercial success. It spawned five Top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including three number one singles: "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You," "Blame It on the Rain," and the title track. By January 1990, Girl You Know It's True achieved phenomenal sales, going 6x platinum in the US after reigning at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for seven weeks. The album's dominance continued with an impressive 41 weeks within the top 10 and a total of 78 weeks on the Billboard 200. Girl You Know It's True also received Diamond certification in Canada, signifying over one million units shipped. This incredible success even garnered the duo a Grammy Award for Best New Artist on February 22, 1990, a feat later revoked due to the lip-syncing scandal.
