The self-titled debut album by Mike + The Mechanics, released on October 21, 1985, is the first in their discography. It spawned several hit songs, including "Silent Running," "All I Need Is A Miracle," and "Taken In."
"Mike + The Mechanics" performed exceptionally well on the Billboard charts. It reached No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart, and is certified Gold by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)," became a major hit, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album's success helped establish Mike + The Mechanics as a prominent band in the music scene of the 1980s.
