Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales is a DVD compilation of nine animated short films from the Cars Toons series, based on the Cars franchise created by John Lasseter, Joe Ranft, and Jorgen Klubien. Directed by John Lasseter, Rob Gibbs, and Victor Navone, the collection was released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on November 2, 2010, and features Larry the Cable Guy reprising his role as the tow truck Mater alongside Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen.
In each short, Mater spins a far-fetched tale to Lightning McQueen about a past adventure, spanning settings that include a monster truck wrestling ring, a Spanish bullfighting arena, a Tokyo drift race, and outer space. The set includes Mater the Greater, Rescue Squad Mater, Monster Truck Mater, Unidentified Flying Mater, El Materdor, Heavy Metal Mater, and Tokyo Mater, along with two shorts that debuted on this release, Moon Mater and Mater Private Eye.
