Little Britain is a British sketch comedy television series created by and starring comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams. The complete first series of the show was originally broadcast on BBC Three in 2003.
The series consists of eight half-hour episodes, each featuring a collection of comedic sketches and characters that are often surreal, satirical, and absurd. The show's humor is often based on exaggerated stereotypes of British society and culture, as well as lampooning various social and political issues.
Some of the show's most popular characters from the first series include Vicky Pollard, a rebellious and foul-mouthed teenage girl; Lou and Andy, a wheelchair-bound man and his put-upon caretaker; and Daffyd Thomas, the self-proclaimed "only gay in the village."
Other notable characters from the series include Marjorie Dawes, the leader of a weight loss group; Emily Howard, a cross-dressing woman who insists that she is a lady; and Dennis Waterman, a fictionalized version of the actor of the same name.
The first series of "Little Britain" was a critical and commercial success, winning several awards and garnering a large and dedicated fan base. The show's irreverent humor and memorable characters helped establish Lucas and Walliams as major figures in British comedy and paved the way for future seasons and spin-offs.
