Joe Satriani's fourth studio album, "The Extremist," was released on July 21, 1992. This highly popular release reached number 22 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spent 28 weeks on the chart. Notable hit songs from the album include "Summer Song," which peaked at number 5 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, "Friends" at number 12, and "Cryin'" at number 24. "The Extremist" was certified Gold in the United States by the RIAA on December 22, 1992, for shipping 500,000 units, and also achieved Gold certification in France with 100,000 units sold.
