Intruders is a television series that premiered in 2014 on BBC America. The first season consists of eight episodes and is based on the novel "The Intruders" by Michael Marshall Smith.
The show follows the intersecting stories of several different characters, including a former LAPD detective named Jack Whelan (played by John Simm), his wife Amy (played by Mira Sorvino), a young girl named Madison (played by Millie Brown), and an assassin named Richard Shepherd (played by James Frain).
As the season progresses, the characters' stories begin to intertwine in unexpected ways, as they are all drawn into a larger conspiracy involving a mysterious organization known as Qui Reverti, which is seeking immortality through a process known as "transference."
The show explores themes of identity, memory, and the nature of consciousness, as well as the darker side of human nature and the lengths that people will go to in order to achieve their goals.
The first season of Intruders received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its eerie atmosphere and strong performances, while others criticized its slow pacing and convoluted plot. Nonetheless, the show has developed a cult following among fans of science fiction and supernatural thrillers.
