Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is a 1992 American Christmas comedy film directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes. It is the second film in the "Home Alone" franchise and stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, a young boy who accidentally gets separated from his family during a Christmas vacation to New York City and must defend himself against a pair of bumbling burglars.
The movie begins with the McCallister family preparing for their Christmas vacation to Florida. However, due to a mix-up at the airport, Kevin ends up getting on a flight to New York City while the rest of his family goes to Florida. Kevin enjoys his newfound freedom in New York and stays at the Plaza Hotel, using his father's credit card to pay for his expenses.
Meanwhile, the two burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), who Kevin foiled in the previous film, have also ended up in New York and plan to rob a toy store on Christmas Eve. Kevin learns about their plan and sets up booby traps in the store to stop them.
The movie culminates in a battle between Kevin and the burglars in the abandoned townhouse of Kevin's uncle, where Kevin sets up more booby traps and ultimately defeats the burglars.
"Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" was a commercial success, grossing over $359 million worldwide, and has become a beloved holiday classic.
