Hart's War is a 2002 American war drama film set in a German prisoner of war (POW) camp during World War II. The story follows Lieutenant Thomas Hart, a law student who is captured and subsequently tasked with defending a Black American POW accused of murder within the camp. The trial becomes a facade orchestrated by the ranking American officer, Colonel William McNamara, to distract the German captors from a secret mission to destroy a nearby ammunition plant. The film explores themes of racial prejudice, honor, and sacrifice under the extreme conditions of war.
The movie was released on February 15, 2002. Major actors include Bruce Willis as Colonel William McNamara, Colin Farrell as Lieutenant Thomas Hart, Terrence Howard as Lieutenant Lincoln Scott, Cole Hauser as Staff Sergeant Vic Bedford, and Marcel Iures as Colonel Werner Visser. The film was directed by Gregory Hoblit, and produced by David Foster, Gregory Hoblit, David Ladd, and Arnold Rifkin.
