Fletch is a 1985 comedy film directed by Michael Ritchie and starring Chevy Chase in the lead role. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Mcdonald.
The film follows the story of Irwin M. Fletcher, a Los Angeles Times investigative reporter who is known for his unconventional and humorous approach to his work. Fletch is approached by a wealthy businessman named Alan Stanwyk, played by Tim Matheson, who offers him $50,000 to murder him.
Fletch, smelling a story, begins to investigate the situation and discovers that Stanwyk is not who he seems. As he delves deeper into the case, he becomes embroiled in a web of corruption, deceit, and murder.
Throughout the movie, Fletch uses his quick wit and comedic timing to navigate through a series of bizarre and dangerous situations. Along the way, he also interacts with a cast of memorable characters, including his editor, his ex-wife, and a variety of eccentric suspects.
"Fletch" is known for its fast-paced and witty dialogue, as well as Chevy Chase's iconic performance as the titular character. The film has since become a cult classic and spawned a sequel, "Fletch Lives," in 1989.
