Fergie's debut studio album, The Dutchess, was released on September 13, 2006, by A&M Records and the will.i.am Music Group. It is a pop, hip hop, and funk/soul album that features collaborations with will.i.am and Ludacris.
The album's most successful singles were "Fergalicious" (featuring will.i.am) and "Glamorous" (featuring Ludacris), both of which reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Fergalicious" was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
The Dutchess was a commercial success, selling overfivemillion copies worldwide and being certified 5X platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
